Best diamond painting kits

Who could have imagined   Paintings cart   nostalgia-ridden paint-by-numbers art and cross-stitching would come together and give life to a trendy new craft?  Also popularized   as crystal art, diamond painting originated in China in 2010 and has become an in-demand creative outlet for crafters of every age and artistic skill level ever since.

If you’re not familiar with this craft, diamond painting consists of applying tiny resin diamonds (known as drills) to an adhesive canvas according to specific color-coded numbers, resulting in shimmery, homemade masterpieces.  To get started yourself or find a lovely gift for a loved one, keep reading and discover our list of the best diamond painting kits you can find online at affordable prices for all skill levels.

Diamonds: Round drills vs square drills

Drills are essential items in all diamond art kits. Otherwise referred to as diamonds, drills are the tiny resin pieces used to adorn your color-coded canvas. These can be round or square and the best choice depends on your skill level.

Round drills can be more challenging to place on adhesive surfaces and may require the help of tweezers. Square drills have a snap feature that locks drills in place quickly — but there’s no going back once these have been placed. The latter are also known to give your work a more cohesive, gap-free finish.

At some point, you may also come across AB diamonds — gems with bright, iridescent coatings. This stands for “Aurora Borealis” and is purely aesthetic, but will add a nice sparkle to your work!

Adhesive: Double-sided tape vs poured glue

Both types of canvases work just fine! However, there is a difference between both. Double-sided tape canvases are usually covered by white, opaque paper, limiting your view of your pattern.
